Kosha Dillz is your rabbis favorite rappers favorite rapper.
Equipped with his self described "Baruch Ha$hemillionaire" stage presence, Kosha Dillz, is ready to take the U.S. by storm and still make it home for Shabbat dinner. Dude has gotten love from URB, Spin, Okayplayer, and now, YW is adding their endorsement.
When he's not busy mixing politics and culture from the motherland with western rhythms, you may find Kosha at your favorite diner eating a turkey burger and macking your girl.
I caught up with the kid last week before he embarks on a U.S. tour.

Kosha dillz. What's good? First off, since this is YouWildin.com, I have to ask, how does Kosha Dillz wild out?
I go to the diner with my homies and order turkey burgers. Sometime I order the free bread and dip it in salt, shabbos style. Couple bubbles in my soda and I'm ready for action. Coleslaw and pickle for sure.
How did you get your name, and do you eat kosher pickles or kosher in general?
I literally got my name off the jar. I was originally KOSHER DILL. then I became KD FLOW during my battle days. After that I emerged into Kosha Dillz for my first release.
Is it hard to eat kosher on the road?
This is true. Not really kosher food. But kosher style is the new child. The more I become more observant in my journey, the easier it is....where there is a will there is a way. I assure you its much healthier than eating anything and everything.
How did you get started as an emcee and what made you want to pursue it as a living?
I really gotta inspiration from the homie Yak Ballz when Braggin Rites first hit NYC at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. This was when battling was really great.
Are you eating off rap? If so, when did you realize that this was a possibility?
Sure. I realized making a living off of music was my job when I said it was. The hard thing is, you're in a business no one wants you to be in because they think they should be there in your place.
Did you ever have a 9-5 day job? If so, what was your worst job?
I do not have one, although I recently applied for a job at a rehab. I never really lasted at a job. I've been hustling since day 1. I'd say the worst 9-5 job I ever had was illegal, and I never really got anywhere positive because of it.
You mentioned to me earlier that Jews are evident in music. Can you expand on that?
We have been around from the Beastie Boys to 3rd Bass to the industry labels to top notch DJs and even bloggers/writers.
Do you think being an unabashedly proud Jew helped you or hurt you as a hip hop artist?
Check it out. I am being proud for who I am. Wait what? Yeah I am proud to be who I am today. I literally was told 1,000,000 times to change my name.
What is your opinion on the current state of hip hop or music in general and where do you see it 5 years from now?
I see music basically erupting into different genres. The hotbed of scenes cultivating are the Midwest in cities such as Minneapolis. Bands are becoming more evident and rock n roll has been paid more homage. You will see more bands like Parallax out of Minneapolis with hip hop and funk. Eclectic DJs like Diwon spinning a combination of Yemenite sample music with Klezmer mixed into hip hop on some So Called. The era of the DJ and MC will soon be extinct because the mainstream success is no longer the MC and DJ.
In October you and C-Rayz Walz dropped a collaborative effort entitled, "Freestyle vs. Written." How much of it was really freestyle?
Oh well I did not freestyle the LP. C-Rayz Walz freestyled that whole dang thing. He jotted down key words and went in to record the LP in less than 24 hours. In fact it was really ten songs done in like 11 hours but the last two songs were a surprise to us in the mixing session.
How did this project come about? How was it working with C-Rayz?
The project came when myself and Kentron da Mastodon decided we need to make a power move. It was originally an EP, but it then escaped to more of an idea to an LP from C-Rayz. It was good to work with him. I think it takes a certain kind of person to work with him overtime. He's a stubborn guy who puts out amazing music. Sometimes you have to go through some drama with a great artist and stay focused on the final product. In the end, I was completely confident he would finish a great project with me. Kentron knew the same. After touring with him for quite sometime, it was the power move for me to make.
You are going on tour soon. Is this to promote the album?
Yeah, the Rapper Friends Tour is the beginning of a busy time where I tour with my friends. I have Akream from Alaska coming and Flex Mathews out of DC. We go out for two months, and during the middle of the tour Flex goes home and Yak Ballz will come on to do March with me en route to SXSW. he is about to blow up I think and I'm really excited to be on the road with him. Akream is the homie from Alaska and we have a heck of a time so hell bring some real street Alaska to the lower 48. I think that is a mysterious aura for him and I'm excited that he can hit the lower 48. Flex is my brother from another mother. Jewish Gospel!
This will promote "Freestyle vs Written" as well. I hope sales go up. I'll be selling "Freestyle vs Written" on the road! I also be teasing them with tracks from my new LP with Belief, "Beverly Dillz."
What does the future look like for Kosha Dillz?
Bright lights and beautiful carpets. I think I can change the world by working hard and doing the right thing.
Lastly, what is your reaction to the Israel's current war in Gaza? Do you think this is being accurately covered in the U.S. (media-wise)?
I do not say that. Media will never do a perfect job. It's different than coverage in Israel. I hope it doesn't look like we are killing innocent civilians when we are really attacking people who are so evil they attack civilians of Israel and then hide behind their own civilians in Gaza. I pray for all the innocent victims and soldiers that will suffer and hope that Hamas meets their death. They are detrimental to world.
Last words, shoutous, etc.?
I'd really like you guys to pick up "Freestyle vs Written" HERE
