The You Wildin' Top Sixty Songs of 2008: 33-31

33) SymbolOne- Love Juice (Danger Remix)
Ooooh. If you could smoke this song, it would give you a great high for twenty minutes. You would then be compelled to cop more. Two weeks later, you would wake up ten pounds lighter with an itch. In an attempt to call your Love Juice (Danger Remix) dealer, you would realize that you sold your phone, along with every other possession you owned, to fix your fiend. Standing in front of the mirror, staring at the ungodly shell of the person that you used to be, you would wonder what happened to your life. Love Juice happened. This is a phenomenal disco song (due to SymbolOne) from far into the Science Fiction channel's vision of the future (that is all DJ Danger's doing). The synths, drums and composition are all wonderful, and I want to have tons of children with the main guitar line... although I am not sure if that is anatomically possible.

32) Lil Wayne featuring Juelz Santana and Fabolous- You Ain't got Nuthin
This is the third (but not the last) song on this list from the Carter III, but its selection has very little to do with Weezy. I mean, his verse is okay, and the chorus is pretty good. Yet I think there is something about Alchemist beats that gives advantage to Yankees. Juelz and Fab rape this track. Punchline after punchline, the two best last hopes for the dying breed of rap that is New York game spitting try to prove the relevance and lasting power of their specific niche in hip hop. I, for one, am convinced. Dipset all day every day.

31) Janelle Monae- Many Moons
First off, watch this video. It is great. Aesthetically, Janelle Monae reminds me of Little Richard, which is a bit unnerving because I am attracted to her. Part of me wonders if her whole vibe is a little contrived, as she sort of seems like the artist Puffy would create if he was attempting to keep Bad Boy relevant in a rapidly changing industry. For the most part, however, Monae is a good artist with a wide vocal range, and an even wider range of obvious musical influences. Many Moons is nominated for a Grammy, and I imagine shorty's presence will contribute to the fusion of r & b and rock and the influx of girls in my neighbourhood with studded belts and faux-hawks, which is cool cuz poser rocker girls like me, and therefore, are that much more likely to felaish me.
