Wes Welker Gets Leveled

Watch Wes Welker. Watch Wes Welker run. Watch Wes Welker get the shit knocked out of him.

Welker, well known for going across the middle, took this hit in the third quarter of yesterday's Steelers/Patriots contest and left the game for good. With Pittsburgh leading 23-10 during their 33-10 win, Matt Cassel's pass to Welker went incomplete and the receiver was knocked down by safety Ryan Clark, who was penalized 15 yards for unnecessary roughness. Although it's still unclear what the nature or severity of his injury is, it's safe to assume that, at the very least, Welker sustained a concussion.

After the game, Clark explained the incident, saying, "It was not like I was trying to be cheap. Anybody that comes across (the middle), it is my job to tackle them. The ball got tipped, but (the official) said I should not have left my feet."

For now, this is my "NFL Hit of the Season." Some might argue that the hit LJ Smith took a couple weeks ago (which I also posted) was worse, and they may have a point, but Smith is a big, hulking Tight End, and Welker is a scrawny little white dude. Who do you think was hurting more after they got hit?

With that said, Welker is a fierce, hard-working, Rudy-like (not Guiliani) guy, and we wish him a speedy recovery... even though we hate the Patriots.

That was bone crushing. Definitely the worst I've seen all year. Commander, can we get a Plax post?
