My friend Marlon produces a Afropop program for NPR. This month's installation focuses on Afro-Dominican music. Known more for bachata, merengue and reggaeton, Dominican music has strong roots in African traditions. "Dominicans use the term Afro-Dominican music to refer to vast musical landscape beyond merengue, encompassing some sixty traditional rhythms found on the island."
