Pic Of The Day 4.1.09

Maybe you haven't heard, but come May 31, 2009, New Yorkers, and anyone else who has the privilege of ridign our fair city's public transit, will be paying fifty cents more for a fare, bringing the total up to $2.50. This is some real bs. After the politicians in Albany chopped down a very workable and revenue genrating congestion pricing plan last year, the people who ride the subway are going to be the one's paying the price? Man, take some money out of the guy's wallet who drives in from Jersey every day, or the trucker that parks his big ass van in the bike lane on 9th avenue in the middle of the afternoon. If you all feel strongly about this at all, go here, and support the Working Families Party:

Tell Albany: Halt the hike and save our transit system!

$103 for a monthly MetroCard. At least a 25% increase in fares for MetroNorth and LIRR. Cutbacks in MTA service everywhere.

We have to demand that Albany come up with a better funding plan by May 31st to halt the hike.

You should also download this pic in poster size (right click this link and choose "Save Link As" to get the full-size version) so you can put it up around the city.

To the streets, peeps!
