Even if you didn't know it, you have actually been looking forward to this Wednesday for a while. Not only is it the first day of April, which signifies the beginning of the end of shitty weather for a a few months. Not only is it the most harmlessly duplicitous day of the year. Wednesday is the day that Jade releases her solo debut, "It's My Heart, Cookie."
You might know Jade as the standout feature on the last Bad News album. Maybe, you know her from her work with Mickey Factz. Maybe you saw her perform with MugWump. Perhaps, you caught word of her year-long deal with Star Trek. Or maybe you have never heard of Jade. Here is a quick description; Brooklyn, Puerto Rican, 23, cute, sings like nobody's business. Really, she is an outstanding singer- perfect tonality, a wide range, a subtle but poignant display of emotion, a bit of rasp, a lot of soul- truly an outstanding singer. Her production team is on point, largely due to the contributions of Precize (Mickey Factz), Inglish (The Cool Kids), and executive producer/ guitarist JD Carmelli. Homegirl can write as well, as that was the primary reason that the Neptunes signed her to their label a few years ago.
And in two days, Jade will be dropping her first full length release, an album that she has been writing for over a year and recording for the better part of one (at the wonderful Wonderful Studios downtown). Below is a promo video. You can hear more at her myspace, or come to her record release soiree tonight at Ella (rsvp at info@scottontherocks.com) at 9.
