1) Kid Cudi- Day 'N' Nite (Crookers Remix)
Now, I can talk about who Cudi and the Crookers are, how they broke out in 2008, and what their impact on music might be. I'd rather talk about this remix of Day and Night. (I'm going to stop writing Day 'N' Nite, it's annoying.)
When I started working on this list in September or October (dedication kiddos), there was no question that this song would be number one. The original is what made Cudi a star. Crookers took a spacey stoner anthem to the club. They put a steady bass drum and an alarm on it. They cracked out the beat. They gave Day and Night, dare I say, the most intense drop ever.
At the first ElectroLights party, the dj said he didn't have this remix. I made my boys roommate come by in a cab with the song because it is a weapon for djs. This song, more than any other of 2008, makes people lose their shit. The Day and Night remix is 2008's best song for wildin' out, and that, of course, is what we are all about.
Peace, love, and vodka. Happy New Years. VTron out.
