The You Wildin' Top Sixty Songs of 2008: 42-40

42) Friendly Fires- I'm Good I'm Gone (Lykke Li cover)
Friendly Fires and Lykke Li are two of the cleanest sounding artists around. Case in point is this version of I'm Good I'm Gone. Even in unofficial youtube video quality, this track sounds like ice and crystals and Black cards. The sparing piano and Ed Macfarlane's (Friendly Fires lead singer) soft, piercing falsetto break gracefully into minimalist electronic drums, not in small part due to the original composition of I'm Good I'm Gone. Friendly Fires are collaborators on another track on this list, and Lykke Li has a couple more mentions. Also, in case you didn't know, I am going to marry Lykke Li.

41) John Legend featuring Andre 3000- Green Light
I guess I was in Europe bumping addys and Armin van Buuren when John Legend's Evolver came out, cuz I don't remember ever hearing his first single, Green Light, on the radio. That's too bad, cuz I am a big fan. The beat sounds like a Jazzy Pha and Pharell collabo. Mr. Legend gets his grown man sexy on (nomo), as always. Andre keeps it funny, and he claims he is freestyling. I love the way he ends his second verse just laughing. The best thing about this song is that it is about trying to f a girl upon first meeting, without being grimy, misogynistic or creepy. Sorry, the second best thing about this song is that it is about trying to f a girl upon first meeting, without being grimy, misogynistic or creepy. The best thing about it, in my opinion, is the MSTRKRFT remix. Didn't just put that version cuz there is a lot of electro, a lot of remixes, and not all that much conventional r and b on this list.

40) The Kills- Cheap and Cheerful (Fake Blood remix)
A lot of people like the Kills. The original Cheap and Cheerful was a well received single. Electro hardbodies SebastiAn and the Bloody Beetroots also made remixes of the song. But none of the other versions hold a candle to the masterpiece that is the Fake Blood remix. It is a brilliant combination of tension-building power trance and shin vibrating electro. Nuff said.
