The You WIldin' Top Sixty Songs of 2008: 18-16

First, I need to point out a mistake I made in yesterday's post. In a comparison to Black Kids' front man Reggie Youngblood, I said that Robert Plant was the front-man of the Cure. I meant Robert Smith. Robert Plant, of course, was the lead singer for Led Zeppelin.
18) Friendly Fires featuring Au Revoir Simone- Paris (Aeroplane Remix)
In the last sixth of this year, this has been my favourite song. This is what ecstasy sounds like. If the Svedka robot made really really good music, it would sound like this song. Perfect synths, great tension and release, and Au Revoir Simone's voice is perfect for this song. The topic is amazing, and close to my, and every other francophile's, heart- as the concept of moving to Paris is a dream. I hope that if I ever get that chance, the Aeroplane remix of Paris is playing in the background.

17) NERD- Spaz
Only Chad and Pharell are capable of making a beat like this. It is out of this world. This is a seriously inventive song that does not take itself too seriously. NERD puts on a great live show, and their combination of rock, hip hop and R & B has always been ahead of its time.

16) Siriusmo- AlltheGirls
Whether it is pronounced Seery oose mo or Serious Mo, I don't know. But this German electro monster is one of the best in the world. The AlltheGirls EP is amazing: retro synths, drums that bang without being too repetitive, a million layers that don't crowd each other, and a wonderful vocal sample. Listen to all the girls, or you, my friend, are a Siruis Mo.
