The You Wildin' Top Sixty Songs of 2008: 13-11

13) Justice- Planisphere Part One
Justice is probably the best electro act in the history of the genre. After their impeccable debut, it seemed like there was nowhere to go but down. Instead, they went on tour, fucked a thousand hot American girls, drank a lot and released Planisphere- the four part mega song that was remarkably innovative, even for Justice. It is dramatic and other worldly, yet approachable and physical movement inducing. Part One is 7:19 of distorted arpeggios and varying drums, packed with industrial sounds and quintessentially Justice-esque bridges.

12) Sebastian Tellier- Divine (Danger Remix)
This is one of the great remixes of the modern era. Tellier's original melody and effortless, smooth singing should probably provide a violent juxtaposition against DJ Danger's choppy synths and heavy drums. But no, this song is an intense and unpredictable epic; arranged and layered perfectly, and appropriate for both personal introspection and wildin' of the highest caliber.

11) SebastiAn- H.A.L.
From here on out, I love every song on this list, but HAL is the highest ranked song that is primarily on here for personal reasons. I was absolutely floored when I first heard this song. It was early June, and upon listening, I instantly went from a curious yet still apprehensive electronic music fan, to a fiend. The extent to which YW has become an electro site upon my entrance into the blogosphere, is due, in large, to Sebastian; for better or for worse.
HAL proves the fusiatic capabilities of electro. Hip Hop samples, techno drums, and distorted synths come together to make what I might argue is the most hardbody song of all time. Seriously.
