Wednesday night, I loaded up on deodorant and headed over to the legendary Fat Beats in NYC, to commemorate the release of Jean Grae and 9th Wonder's collaborative album, Jeanius. It was hotter then a mug in that tiny record store, but my Speed Stick kept my dry, and my height advantage allowed me to film this:
Jean Grae performing "Don't Rush Me" off Jeanius
Jean and Kweli performing "Say Something" off Eardrum
For those of y'all who don't know, the Blacksmith representative and resident BK emcee, Jean Grae, teamed up with all-star producer 9th Wonder 4 years ago to create Jeanius. Thanks to the Internet, the album has been circulating since then without an official release. In need of some paper and sample clearance, the duo got back into the studio to re-mix and master the album adding a few bonus tracks as well. Jeanius was released under Blacksmith Records (Talib Kweli, Strong Arm Steady) in October.
