Chester French is Kinda Dope

A few weeks ago, resident stratatician, Stratatician, put me on to a band named Chester French after he saw them open for Common. The band developed their sound while attending Harvard University, and was soon after offered a record deal by Kanye West. French rejected the auto-tune fiend and signed with Star Track, Pharrell's record label.

Here are a few of their tracks to give you a taste. I think they sound like Weezer fucked David Bowie and gave birth to a child that was raised by Johnny Cash and Gnarls Barkley. Take a listen:

She loves everybody was recently featured on Entourage, and the Neptunes remix (Click here to listen), has been blowing up on the club scene (I'm guessing). There are a few things that I really feel about Chester French. Here they are:

1) They've made it clear that they are going to have a presence within the hip hop scene, and any change/deviation from the current state of hip hop is a wonderful thing.

2)They pressed their CD's in connie-like packaging, and also give out Chester French condoms at shows. WHAT KIND OF C TACTICS MUST THEY HAVE?

3) They rejected Kanye. Has he EVER been rejected in his life? Probably not. Kudos Chester.

4)They took their $200,000 education and became rock stars. Boys are wicked smart.

Post a comment if you're feelin' the same.
