Monkey Waiters


No, "Monkey Waiters" isn't the name of some shitty new indie rock band. Instead, it's exactly what it sounds like -- monkeys who wait tables.

In an effort to increase revenues and decrease payroll, a Japanese resturant has replaced their human wait service with primates. As I mentioned, the monkeys deliver food and drinks to patrons and are rewarded for their service with an edible treat. They receive a treat when they pick up things from the kitchen, and then get another treat -- from the patrons -- when they bring the goods to the table.

Check out the video above to see these little dudes in action. I can't tell, but it looks like they might be chained by their ankles. I'm sure PETA would have a field day with this, but at least they're constantly feeding our furry cousins. No matter what you think, it's certainly an interesting and ingenius advertising ploy.
