The Top Five Music Videos Ever......about sailing

5) The Commodores- Sail On
The Commodores are great, and in "Sail On", they have the ability to start the song sounding like they have little tiny very white people singing from inside their mouths, and ending it like they are the dudes who sung "Brick House" (which, indeed, they are). They are also dressed like they are at soul train in heaven. What this video lacks in nautical thematics, it more than makes up for in facial expressions and hang gliding.


4) Armin Van Buuren- Sail
This isn't even really a music video. Whatever. The DJ booth is a pirate ship. Its cannons are shooting out confetti onto a sea of ecstasy filled Dutch teenagers. The dancers are hot, the lights are out of control, and the song....jesus christ. If this track makes you feel like I do when I hear it, then Im sorry that its the middle of the work week and you aren't overdosing in Utrecht.


3) Rod Stewart- Sailing
Did anyone else underestimate how gay Rod Stewart is? I think, generally speaking, the only people that should wear sailor outfits are girls on halloween, toddlers, and actual sailors (okay, maybe old men too). But it was the 70's, and besides Rod Stewart has gotten enough pussy to be able to hump sail boats (2:16-2:26 into the video).


2) Enya- Orinico Flow
I don't even know what to say. This really might be the best video I have ever seen. If you don't do anything else for the rest of the day, watch this video.
Sidenote: What do you think it would be like to have sex with Enya circa 1988? She was probably real akward, but there is a distinct possibility that she was a freak. Also, did she make hilarious noises, like her background vocals?


1) Styx- Come Sail Away
This is an automatic number one. Its by no means the work of visual art that "Orinico Flow" is or quite as sea-themed as the "Sailing" video (in all fairness, its a concert video). Still, its not the production that Sail is. But "Come Sail Away" is the mother of songs about sailing. The lead singer has a killer beard, and his transformation from sensitive piano dude to an angry, yet resiliant, shakespearian ass-pirate would make Blitzwing nervous. "Come Sail Away" is quite possibly the most terribly amazing song ever.....about sailing.


Honourable Mention: NYC-based rapper Hima, most well-known for his role in Das Racist and his prolific love for cheeseburgers, has a great song called Boat Trip. There is no video yet, but you can check out the track on his myspace.
