NYC Weed Arrest Capital of The World?? You must be wildin'

It's no secret the po po have been wildin' since the invention of semi-automatic firearms (although I'm sure they wilded just as hard in the musket days). So, when New York's finest aren't firing 50 bullets at unarmed black men, they are narcing out lonely stoners freeing their minds at night.

According to a CBS/AP story published April 29, New York City Police busted nearly 400,000 people for carrying small amounts of pot in the last decade, making New York City the world leader in marijuana arrests, civil rights advocates said while unveiling a study criticizing the war on drugs.

The study by Queens College sociologist Harry G. Levine, titled "Marijuana Arrest Crusade," accused police of purposely singling out minorities during the 10-year crackdown. It said that data provided by stat Division of Criminal Justice Services showed that between 1997 and 2007, 52 percent of the suspects were black, 31 percent Hispanic and only 15 percent white.

Not surprisingly, these arrests began skyrocketing during- yup, you guessed it- the Giuliani administration.

Not only is this a wild waste of tax money and resources, but have any of you been to Vermont recently? White people really like weed too.
